Half Marathon

I have decided to run the "Disney Princess Half Marathon". A big group of Rett moms (and friends/family) are getting together to run it for our girls.

I have never run a half marathon before. I have done 5K's and 10K's but this is the biggest race yet. I am extremely nervous but I know that with each step I take, I will be thinking about how Oaklynn would give anything to just take one step. I'm hoping that a cure will be found so that she may run along side me one day.

Sensory Blanket

Oaklynn's Nana (my mom) made her a "sensory blanket". I went and bought a bunch of fabric that was all different textures and colors. I gave it to my mom and she sewed a blanket together for her. We now sit Oaklynn on it when she plays so that she can reach down and feel all the different textures. She is a sensory seeking child so it's GREAT!

Weight Bearing

We are in the process of purchasing a house. Our place has been clutter and we can't wait to be in our own place. I appologize for not updating in a while but I thought i would post a quick update of Oaklynn...
This is her watching her favorite Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in her bed. We bought her a TV for her birthday to put in her room. I now have her watch TV standing up in her bed so that she can get some "weight bearing" time for her legs. She doesn't pull to stand anymore and I don't want her loosing the ability to hold onto things and stand so I let her watch Mickey Mouse every day as long as she is standing in her crib. I do it in her crib because if she looses her footing/balance and falls backwards, she doesn't get hurt. Also, the side is the perfect size for her to grip onto... she loves to stand!
